Theodore A. Martin

Theodore A. “Ted” Martin, 91, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Parkview Care Center surrounded by family. Ted was born March 2, 1927 in Evansville, IN to the late Charles and Josephine (Will) Martin. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and a member of the National Farmer’s Organization. After retiring from farming, Ted worked part time at the Dutch Korner. He was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel. Ted enjoyed playing clabber, fishing, gardening, coon hunting, was an avid boxing fan. Surviving Ted are his wife of 31 years, Glenda Cotton Martin; three daughters, Karen Brown of Evansville, Beverly Gish and Pam (Dennis) Stratman, both of St. Wendel; two sons, Randy (Sherdeth) Martin and Greg (Mary) Martin, both of St. Wendel; four stepdaughters, Robin (Steve) Morris, Kim McDowell, Nancy Zinn and Beth (Steve) Scheller; fourteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Catherine “Dolly” Martin in 1985; by sisters, Florentine Brauch, Stella Head, Mary Louise Haller, Margaret Turner Hammonds and Jenny Reneer; by brothers, Andrew Martin, Walter Martin, Lawrence Martin and Paul Martin and by two great granddaughters, Emily and Angel Roper. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Friday at St. Wendel Church. Ted’s family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Parkview Care Center for the compassionate care given to Ted and his family during Ted’s final days.
