Alfred B. Knapp

Alfred B. Knapp, 89, of Evansville, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at Solarbron Terrace with his family by his side. Al was born February 24, 1931 in Evansville to the late William and Olivia (Tenbarge) Knapp. He worked as a tool and die maker for Moll Tool and Die, Kent Plastics and Ball Plastics, was a 1949 graduate of Memorial High School, an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church, a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and an avid supporter of Mater Dei Men’s Club, USI Varsity Club and Mater Dei Booster Club. Al enjoyed bowling and was a knife collector. Surviving Al are two daughters, Sarabeth Lemley of Evergreen, CO and Sherilyn (Donny) Scott of Wadesville, a son, Steve (Dawn) Knapp of Evansville; sister, Regina Goebel; grandchildren, Kortney (Matt) Walker, Hanna (Denny) Rodriguez, Alivia (Andy) Tekoppel, Austin Knapp, Alexandria Lemley, Claire Knapp, Samantha Lemley and Adam Knapp and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley (Bumb) Knapp in 2016, by two sisters, Carolyn Rexing and Mary Rose Peak and brother, William Knapp. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Road, Evansville, IN 47720.
