Alfred C. “Al” Koester, 91, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Heritage Center, surrounded by his loving family. Al was born August 13, 1930 to the late Joseph and Victoria (Wassmer) Koester. He was affectionately known as “Cowboy” at the United States Postal Service where he worked for 32 years. Al was a 1948 graduate of FJ Reitz High School and enjoyed attending Reitz football games. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on West Michigan Street. Surviving Al are three daughters, Lisa (Tom) Huck, Carol (George) Busby, Julie Rexing; eight grandchildren, Traci (Josh) File, Rachel (Sean) Brown, Amy (Dan) Beavin, Jacob (fiance`, Kindra Abbey Mangarella) Rexing, Ryan (Megan) Huck, Andrea (Ryan) Singer, Lindsey (Zach) Mayhall and Eileen (Jeff) Kirchoff and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Gloria Voyles and a nephew, Rick (Lori) Voyles. Al was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Collier) Koester in 2010; by a son-in-law, Michael Rexing and by a brother-in-law, Haskell Voyles. Funeral services for Al will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Mary Hurley officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St. Evansville, IN.
