Alice Ann Goebel

August 2, 1953 - May 17, 2022

Alice Ann Goebel, 68, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born August 2, 1953 in Evansville to the late Elmer and Mildred (Happe) Helfrich. She was raised in New Harmony and lived on Evansville’s west side for forty-one and a half years with her husband, Steve. Alice was a 1971 graduate of New Harmony High School and later attended Lockyear’s Business College. She worked as a secretary for Smith Barney Upham brokerage for almost 38 years. She loved her job and the people she worked with. On October 4, 1980 Alice married Steven Goebel at Holy Angels Church in New Harmony. Together they built a life to be proud of, especially their son Neil and daughter-in-law, “Katie Sue”. Alice enjoyed painting ceramics, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She loved animals, especially her dog, Dixie, her kitty cats and all of the cattle they raised through the years. You could always find Alice mowing the grass, spraying weeds and taking care of her flowers and plants. She and her family also enjoyed collecting antiques and tractors. She worked hard to keep Steve and Neil in line. Though Alice faced many health issues over the last years, she remained positive and strong in her faith. Surviving Alice are her beloved husband of over 41 years, Steve Goebel; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Katie (Blythe) Goebel; sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Roger Brown of Poseyville; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gayle Helfrich of New Harmony; her mother-in-law, Mary Goebel Brooks; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Philip Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Liz, Vanessa and Andre, for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Indiana Antique and Machinery Club, P.O. Box 4712, Evansville, IN 47724-4712 or to St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 St. Philip Road, S, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620. Condolences may be made online at www.pierrefuneralhome.com.
