Allen W. Tenbarge Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Allen W. Tenbarge passed away at home on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the age of 91. He is survived by his lovely wife of 71 years, LaVerne (Debes) Tenbarge. He was born of Veronica (Schmitt) and Vincent Tenbarge on October 7, 1930 in Evansville, Indiana. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He was employed by Swift and Co. for 17 years, and Mead Johnson for 26 years. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and Memorial High School. Allen, LaVerne and friends, enjoyed dancing and belonged to the Eagles, Owls, Coterie, and the Friday Night Dance Club. He enjoyed working with Keep Evansville Beautiful to keep our community litter free. Over the years Allen and LaVerne belonged to several different discussion groups, one of which has existed for over 35 years. We wish to thank all who participated. Allen enjoyed leading The Schnitzel Bank, a Traditional German Song, which was handed down from past generations at many family and wedding celebrations. He is survived by his seven children; Jane (Dave) Leach, Karen (Ed) Stephenson, Mary (Mike) Berendes, Teri (Lee) Chapin, Lois (Kenny) Edmondson, Joe (Chris) and Laura (Dan) Niemeier; his grandchildren, Stacia (Leach) Martin, Gregory Leach, Sarah (Leach) Combs, Anna Stephenson, Rachel Stephenson, Billy Wayne, Brooke Wayne, Nick Logel, Jamie Simpson, Eric Edmondson, Andy Niemeier, Brad Niemeier, and Craig Niemeier; and twenty great grandchildren, two sisters, Susan Wargel and Margie Helgesen; and two brothers, Richard and Gene Tenbarge. Allen was preceded in death by sisters Doris Weinzapfel, Lillian Wildeman and Sister Sharon Tenbarge (Daughter of Charity). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Jerry Pratt officiating. Visitation will be at Resurrection Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until service time. Private burial at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
