Bartholomew Gipson

Bartholomew Gipson, 57, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009. Bart was born on July 25, 1951 in Cherokee County, OK. He graduated from Kansas High School in Kansas, OK. He then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Criminology from Dana College in Blair, NE. Bart was preceded in death by his parents, James Boyd and Tennie Bell (Mockicin) Gibson and also his brother, Rodger Cornell Gibson. Surviving are his wife, Karyn (Hadley) Gipson; sons, Joshua James Gipson of Evansville, Jeremiah Boyd Gipson of South Dakota, Rob Hadley of Evansville and Jeff Hadley and his wife, Coco of Evansville; grandchildren, Kelsey and Skyler Hadley and Landen, Skyler and L.B. Hadley all of Evansville; sisters, Lylie (Walter) Standingwater of Tulsa, OK, Cemathy Gipson and Peggy Gibson, both of Tahlequah, OK, Le Gibson (Robert Glass) and Zena Gibson, both of Kansas, OK and Barb Kahlandt of Waterloo, NE; brothers, Sol Bird Mockicin of Oaks, OK, Simon Gipson of Apopka, FL and Simeon (Vickie) Gipson of Tahlequah, OK. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Betty McKinney of Boonville, IN; sisters-in-law, Joan (Donnie) Meyer of Midway, IN, Carol (Mike) Howes of Boonville, IN and Sherry (Tom) Sutton of Ft. Myers, FL; brother-in-law, Mike (Sandi) McKinney of Tell City, IN; godchildren, Benjamin, Ayden, and Jacob Duval of Chelsea, OK; nieces, nephews and many friends. Bart and his wife Karyn were soul mates and enjoyed twenty years together. Time spent with their children and grandchildren was the highlight of their life together. His time in Evansville spans the last thirty years. Employment during that period includes working as the Chief Case Manager at Second Chance Halfway House from 1982 to 1989; as a loss prevention supervisor at TJ Maxx from 1990 to 2006 and most recently at Securitas. Bart was a special man and will be greatly missed by so many. Thanks for the memories Bart, we love you and always will. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Ralph McVey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Friends may also visit from 11:00 A.M. Monday to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to SWIRCA, 16 W.
