Sister Catherine (Kiske) Janeway, O.S.C. died June 8, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital (where she received excellent care) after a two-day illness. She was born to John Roe and Carol (nee Rindsfoos), later Carol Janeway, their only child, in Moscow, Russia, in 1935. After living and working at Oxford University Press in New York City for several years, she descerned to enter the Poor Clare Order in Evansville, in 1988. She made Solemn Profession in 1994. She contributed to our community life with a joyful heart…cooking, music, artistic painting and poetry. Our courtyard is full of her flowers which we all enjoy. Her favorite Scripture quote was “Behold, I make all things new” (2 Cor: 5;17). She leaves behind her dear Sisters and many friends with happy and pleasant memories. We appreciate your prayers for her soul. Memorial gifts are accepted by the Monastery of St. Clare, 6825 Nurrenbern Road, Evansville, IN 47712. Visitation at the Monastery Chapel on Sunday, June 12, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, ending with the Holy Rosary at 6:45PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Monastery Chapel at 10:00AM on Monday, June 13. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
