Donald Dean Marrs, 85, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021at the West River Health Campus. Don was born October 28, 1935 in Evansville to the late John L. and Viola (Beckham) Marrs. He was a 1953 graduate of FJ Reitz High School and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Don honorably served his country in the United States Army from January 24, 1955 to December 20, 1957. He worked as the supervisor of the Bottling Department at Sterling Brewery before retiring as the Overseas Sales Manager of the Evansville Brewery Association in 1994. Don enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and playing golf with his wife and family. He liked to gamble at Ellis Park and the casino. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends and played golf everywhere they went. Don was a kind, thoughtful, and generous man who liked helping his family whenever he could with all kinds of projects. He was also quite witty and never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. Surviving Don are his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Rose (Miller) Marrs; two daughters, Karen (Keith) Hinderliter and Cynthia “Cindy” Marrs, both of Evansville; sisters-in-law, Jean Anson of Evansville and Jan Miller of Florissant, MO; grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) McCallister, Shanna Messersmith, Katie (Steve) Mathew, Audrey (Andy) Niemeier, Stephanie Morrow, Jeff (Kirstin) Weyer and Anthony Laufer; twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kaye Weyer in 1998; by his sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Harold Miller; brother and sister-in-law, James and Dorothy Marrs; by a grandson, Brad Hinderliter; sister-in-law, Marilyn Miller; brothers-in-law, Melvin Anson and John Miller and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Jo Barnes. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. John Brosmer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Tuesday at St. Boniface Church.
