Jeanne A. Guetling

Jeanne Guetling, 93, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Bethel Manor Nursing Home surrounded by family. Jeanne was born April 18, 1928 in Evansville to the late John and Catherine (Beckerle) Kercher. She was a 1945 graduate of Memorial High School and a homemaker. Jeanne loved her family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was also a member of the Howell Par 3 Women’s Club and made a hole in 1 on the 9th hole at Howell. Jeanne loved to travel with her husband Harold and had served as a volunteer for Rocky Mountain Park in Colorado and LBJ Ranch in Texas. Jeanne lived her life to the fullest, never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. Surviving Jeanne are her husband of 74 years, Harold Guetling; daughters, Gail (Roy) Pointer, Paula (Joseph) Elliott, Nancy Lassiter, Mary Kay (John) LaFever; sons, Mark (Evie) Guetling, Michael (Connie) Guetling, Timothy Guetling, Thomas (Susan) Guetling and James Guetling; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and sisters, Charlotte Richter, Marian Seibert and Sr. Mary Victor, O.S.B. In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by sisters, Esther Fraser, Ruth Hillenbrand and Eileen Weinzapfel and by brothers, Lawrence, Robert and Victor Kercher; an infant brother, John Kercher and by a son-in-law, Larry Lassiter. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. Lowell Will officiating. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2701 W. Franklin Street. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of both Bethel Manor and Heritage Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to Jeanne.
