Lester B. Steinmetz, 77, of Evansville, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Lester was born June 25, 1944 in Evansville, to the late Lester L. and Catherine Marie (Fisher) Steinmetz. Les was a 22-year veteran of the Evansville Police Department. He devoted his life to his family, to coaching soccer on the westside of Evansville, the West Side Nut Club and FOP Pal Camp. Les enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing golf until his health would no longer allow him to. Surviving are his wife, Terry (Stambush) Steinmetz; two brothers, Randy and Mike Steinmetz; by a nephew and his wife, Robbie and Marie Mayes and their family. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lester Steinmetz in 2015; by two sisters, Kathleen Turner and Diana Mayes and by a brother, Chester Steinmetz. There will be a memorial service held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until service time on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Side Nut Club, the FOP Pal Camp or to It Takes A Village Animal Rescue. Condolences may be made online at www.pierrefuneralhome.com.
