Loretta Wilma Whelan, 83, of Evansville, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 at her home. Loretta was born June 1, 1936 in Wadesville, IN to the late Charles Nicholas and Teresa Catherine (Hertel) Hoehn. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. Loretta is survived by two daughters, Linda Whelan and Lori Woodruff; a son, Larry (Cheryl) Whelan; a brother, Bob (Sandra) Hoehn, three grandchildren, Nickolas (Nina) Whelan, Jesse Woodruff and Dylan Woodruff and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Joel and Abbiegail Whelan. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Darrell Whelan in 2015; by sisters, Mary Lou Wolf, Elizabeth Roby, Ann Axton, Theresa Folz and Katherine Garrett; by an infant brother, Francis Hoehn and brothers, Sylvester Hoehn, John Hoehn and Herman Hoehn. Private graveside services and burial will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. There will be a public memorial mass scheduled at a later date.
