William E. Harris

October 22, 1927 - November 6, 2021

William E. Harris, 94, of Evansville, went home to be with his Lord and reunited with the love of his life on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Heritage Center. Bill was born October 22, 1927 in Evansville to the late Earl and Ruth (Brown) Harris. He worked as a supervisor for Whirlpool Corporation and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, skiing and traveling. Bill had a deep love of the Lord and his family; he was an evangelist and authored the book, “From One Perfect Seed”. Bill was an ordained minister, a deacon of the church, youth leader and Sunday School superintendent. Surviving Bill are three daughters, Connie (James) Jarvis, Karen Harris and Paula (Jerry) Markham; sisters, Alice Muro and Carol Roth; three brothers, Robert Harris, Jack Harris and James Harris; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan Hargett, Brent Hargett, John Jarvis, Julie Kempf, Melanie King, Lesley Futrell, Kevin Bennett, Derreck Bennett, Heath Bennett, Breann Bennett Barthel, Lia Barthel, Lily Barthel, Ashley McReynolds and Jeremy Markham and seventeen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jessie (Poag) Harris; by a daughter, Donna Bennett Barthel; by a grandson, Anthony Barthel, Jr. and a sister, Judy Crowe. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until service time on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of the Heritage Center and Heritage Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to Borrowed Hearts Foundation, 1144 Indy Court, Evansville, IN 47725 to help serve those in foster care and the families who care for them.
