Bernie E. Drone

Bernie E. Drone, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend entered into eternal peace with the divine grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ on July 6, 2015. Bernie was born October 10, 1940 in Evansville to the late Bernard and Mary Elizabeth (Barwe) Drone. Bernie attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Mater Dei High School. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, being on the river and being with Dan at his farm. Bernie was a mechanic, owning a garage on the Westside for many years. He was an entrepreneur, dealing in a multitude of business adventures throughout the years. He had been a lifelong member of the Westside Nut Club. His greatest love in his life was his family and dear friends. Bernie has now joined into the Heavenly Kingdom with his beloved mother, Mary (Barwe) Drone, his father, Bernie Drone, brothers, Jerry and Frank Drone; daughter, Connie Drone; infant daughter, Kathy Drone; grandson, Dewayne Ellsperman and nephews, Jeff and Darren Drone. Surviving Bernie are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Margaret Drone; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Tim Garnett, Angie and Tim Klenck and Kristy and Steve Waugerman; grandchildren, Chad, Ryan (Michelle) and Tony (Nikki) Garnett, Christian (Eric) Duley, Aleksey, Benjamin, Seth and Sydney Klenck, Kaden and Kendal Waugerman; great grandchildren, David, Noah, Alyssa, Amelia, Sophie, Maggie, Zeda and Mali; brother, Bob (Mary Lou) Drone; sisters, Gayla (Jay) Arendt and Jackie (Jim) Kinsler; sisters-in-law, Terry and Donna Drone; brother-in-law, Andy (Carol) Moore; twenty one nieces and nephews and his dearest and lifelong friend Dan (Dosey) Lehman. The Drone family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomas Waits and the entire staff of OHA. The compassion and care that Bernie received will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him in his final week, especially Dr. Taylor, Dr. Vardi, Dr. Bennett, Dr. Gessford; nurse Brittany and hospice worker Sharon for all of you efforts in getting him home. There will be a memorial mass celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. Simon Natha officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. It was Bernie’s wish that rather than mourn his death with a traditional church dinner, that everyone celebrate his life following the mass at his home on the Ohio River.
