Carol Ann Grannan

Carol Ann Grannan, 76, of Evansville, passed away at Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Carol was born April 3, 1946 to the late Norman Graper and Marcella (Maurice) Montgomery. Carol attended St. Anthony Elementary and was a 1964 graduate Rex Mundi High School. She began her working career at Indiana Bell Telephone as a phone operator, then worked as an administrative assistant at Shane Manufacturing, Mt. Vernon Junior High School, Lensing Wholesale and The University of Southern Indiana. She worked as an assistant at the Indiana State Teachers Association serving teachers in Gibson, Pike, Posey, and Warrick County before retiring in 2009. Carol was an active member of St. Boniface/St. Agnes Parish and received the Brute` Society award for her dedication and service to the church. For over forty years she enjoyed playing cards with her high school clabber club. After retiring, Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, cooking for family get togethers, meeting friends at Panera Bread and The Donut Bank. She enjoyed attending USI basketball games and Indianapolis Colts football games as a season ticket holder. Carol married Stephen Grannan on February 26, 1966. They were married 57 years. Surviving Carol are her husband, Steve; her three children, Christopher (Julie) Grannan of Chattanooga, Michael (Tammy) Grannan of Owensboro, and Amy Grannan of Evansville; six grandchildren, Adam (Sarah) Grannan of Indianapolis, Zachary (Alexa) Grannan of McKinney, Texas, Nicholas Grannan and Mitchell Grannan, both of Chattanooga and Benjamin Grannan and Miranda Grannan, both of Owensboro and one great grandchild expected in May. Also surviving Carol are her sister, Janet Smock; brothers-in-law, Robert (Debra) Grannan and Paul (Cathy) Grannan and sisters-in-law, Maryann (Michael) Dunbar and Evelyn Grannan; many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kali Jordan Grannan in 2012; by her sister, Rosalee Thompson and brother-in-law, John Grannan. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service held at 4:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 AM until service time on Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1600 Glendale Ave, Evansville, IN 47712.
