Cyrilla Goedde

Cyrilla M. (Eberhard) Goedde, age 88, of Evansville, died in her sleep Wednesday, July 04, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Donna Niemeier. Cyrilla was born March 18, 1924 in Campbell, MO to the late John A. and Katherine (Cuper) Eberhard. She graduated from Glennonville High School. She moved to Evansville in 1944 and attended Mount St. Joseph College, now Brescia University, in Owensboro. She finished her undergraduate degree at ISUE and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Evansville. Later, she worked at Servel, where she met her husband Elmer. Cyrilla taught at St. Wendel School from 1966 until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, the Altar Society at St. Wendel and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Art) Minar of Indianapolis, IN, Jane (Gordon) Amos of Mooresville, IN and Donna (Dennis) Niemeier of Evansville; two sons, Tom (Mary) Goedde of Evansville and Dan (Carol) Goedde of Philpot, KY; a cousin, Evaline Woolard of Maryville, CA and her aunt, Helen Bengert of Texas. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, Phillip (Nikki) and Jim Minar, Jill (Thomas) Carbaugh, Julianne Amos, Lauren, Caroline, Katelyn and Ben Niemeier, Lucas, Zachary and Rachel Goedde, Jake, Kyle, Katie and Emily Tison, Emily, Adam, Nadine, Michael and Grace Goedde and two great grandchildren, Chloe and Claire Carbaugh. Cyrilla was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Elmer Goedde in 1992, by her brother, Cyril Eberhard in 1986 and by a sister, Mildred Walker in 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur and Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service held at 5:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Saturday at St. Wendel Church.
