Jeanne Annette Herrenbruck

Jeanne Annette Herrenbruck, age 86, of Evansville, went home to be with Jesus on September 22, 2015. She was born June 16, 1929 in Poseyville, IN to the late Anna Mae (Youngblood) and Herman Eli Davis. Jeanne, more commonly known as Annette, passed away peacefully at her home of 61 years on Evansville’s Westside. Annette was married to Carroll Edward Herrenbruck on August 27, 1947 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Evansville. They were married for 66 years and have been a loving example of family values and perseverance through trials. Annette was the loving mother of Janie Thomas (husband, Dennis) and Jim Herrenbruck (wife, Cheryl). She delighted in family and had a loving and giving heart. Those blessed by her love include her grandchildren, Matt Thomas (wife, Ann), Katie Herrenbruck (fiancée, Keith Dossett) and Kelly Vaughan (husband, Jacob). She also dearly loved her great grandchildren, Emma, Ben, Kate and Will Thomas and her extended family; sister, Cora Kelly (husband, Gary), sister-in-law, Doris Rutledge (husband, Fred); niece, Patty Scott (husband, Blair) and her children, Erika and Hunter; nephew, Chris Rutledge (wife, Gretchen) and their children, Sam, Emily and Annie; nephew, Kevin Rutledge (wife, April) and their daughter, Anna. She was also blessed by sixteen other nieces and nephews, their spouses, children and children’s children. She was fondly known as Aunt Nettie by all of her nieces and nephews and they meant the world to her. She will be forever remembered and forever missed because of her loving and giving heart. She made sure all of those she met were always remembered, always included and always well fed and loved. In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by sisters, Flora Mae Hopf of Poseyville, Katherine Allen Fetcher of Cynthiana, and Martha Kelley of Pinellas Park, FL. Annette was a loving wife and mother and spent most of her married life caring for and providing a wonderful home and life for her children and husband. She was active in PTA, Cub Scouts and anything that her family was involved in. If you walk through her home you will see the loves and legacies of her life, as it is filled with pictures of her family. Parents, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters, grandparents, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and others that have been taken in to the family because of her warmth and love. During her lifetime Annette touched many lives and will be remembered for her loving way of always remembering others. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Rusche and Dr. Anthony Stephens for the care they gave to her throughout her illnesses. The family would also like to say a special thank you to the caregivers from Home Instead who lovingly and faithfully cared for and loved Annette. When you entered the doors to her home and as you worked to love and care for her you became a very special part of our family. We were blessed and pray we were also a blessing to you. We are forever grateful to God for blessing us with your love which often extended long after your job as caregiver ended. You are special people with special gifts and we thank you for sharing them with our family. We also wish to thank the staff of Aseracare Hospice, especially nurse Julia Pettijohn, for helping us make Annette’s last days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Again, we feel very blessed that God placed you in our lives and her life at such a difficult time. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 3:00 until 3:30 P.M. on Saturday at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 5600 Oak Hill Road, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 prior to her services in the church sanctuary. A celebration of her life will be held at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 5600 Oak Hill Road, at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, Pastor Dave Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Poseyville Cemetery. Though her earthly temple was tremendously destroyed by cancer, her spirit and soul remained radiant and beautiful throughout her life. Her family asks that you remember her by giving in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the American Cancer Society. It is our prayer that this ugly disease which destroys not only bodies but also lives and families will someday be destroyed itself. We are grateful to our Heavenly Father for giving us the gift of her life for these 86 years. We are sure there was much rejoicing in Heaven as she entered the gates of her heavenly home.
