Kirsten Mitchell

Kirsten Mitchell ran her last race on August 5, 2007. At that time, God let her cross the finish line into Heaven after he called her home. Kirsten was a 1992 honors graduate of Reitz High School. While there she lettered in basketball. She also ran Track and Cross Country for four years earning All-City and All Conference honors in all four seasons. In her senior year she earned Academic All State Honors in Cross Country. Upon graduation Kirsten entered Indiana University in Bloomington to study Physical Therapy. She earned Distinguished Honors for her grades, which placed her at the top of her class at the School of Physical Therapy at IUPUI. She was a member of Gold Key Honors Society at Indiana University. Kirsten was employed at Beverly Health Care and had a unique gift for helping elderly people and making their lives better and happier. She will be missed greatly by her patients at the Beverly Health Care facilities because of her care and concern for those patients. She enjoyed running, cycling and I.U. Basketball. Kirsten is survived by her parents, Donna (Schenk) and Tim Mitchell, her brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Nikki Mitchell and her niece, Lauren Harrison of Rockport, IN her maternal grandfather, Linus Schenk and her paternal grandmother, Ruth Mitchell. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Joyce and Ron Messersmith, Steve and Sharon Muensterman, Dan L. and Kathy Schenk and Daniel C. Schenk, all of Evansville, Mike and Harriet Mitchell of Naples, FL and Pat Mitchell of Atlanta, GA and cousins, Kurt and Kyle Messersmith, Kelly Salee, Chad Schenk of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ryan Schenk of Indianapolis, Bevan, Sean and Kyle Mitchell and Kelly Cunningham of Atlanta. Kirsten was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Helen Schenk, and her paternal grandfather, Jerry Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 A.M. until service time Friday at Resurrection Catholic Church. The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to Jim and Jo Daniels for their love and support for Kirsten and all of the “Covington Court” friends and neighbors that Kirsten loved and cherished. Also our gratitude goes out to Lisa Mesil, a co-worker and close friend to Kristen for many years and all the other caring employees of the Beverly family in Evansville. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to Woodbridge Health Care for the purchase of Physical Therapy equipment.
