Mary Elaine Kuhn

Mary Elaine Kuhn, 86, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at River Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born on August 3, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Mecklenborg) Clayton. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Elaine worked as a secretary at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and in the Physical Therapy Department of the University of Evansville. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she, along with her husband Don, was inducted into the Bruté Society of the Diocese of Evansville for her service to the church in 1991. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club and Women’s Club at Corpus Christi. Elaine was also a dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville and received the Susan Louise Weis Service Award for her dedication to Habitat in 2025. Surviving Elaine are her husband of sixty four years, Don Kuhn; a daughter, Lori (Tim) Hillstrom; three sons, Ron (Paula) Kuhn, Joe (Lisa) Kuhn and Ed (Thuy) Kuhn; sisters, Dottie (Bob) Williams, Doris (Don) Trick and Clara Pachin; a brother, Tom Clayton; grandchildren, Andy Hillstrom, Megan Hillstrom, Bryan Kuhn, Damon Kuhn, Tyler Kuhn, Drew Kuhn, Spencer Kuhn, Kayley Holtz, Ariel Fields, Bryce Kuhn, Darian Kuhn and Garret Kuhn and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Andy Clayton and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Ollie Schapker. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Theodore Tempel officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a rosary recited at 5:00 PM. Friends may also visit from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5528 Hogue Road. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of both River Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Heritage Hospice for all of their kind of compassionate care.
