Mary M May

Mary M. May passed away Wednesday evening at Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital surrounded by family. Mary was born August 22, 1937 in Evansville to the late Rudolph and Lucille (Morris) Koressel. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1998. She was an active member of St. Philip Catholic Church where she was the organist and a choir member for over 45 years. Being part of the Hour of Worship Service and the Prayer Chain was near and dear to Mary’s heart. She was a 2010 recipient of the Evansville Catholic Diocese Brute Society Award. As a member of the Spirit of Evansville Sweet Adelines women’s choral group, Mary enjoyed singing out in joy to the world! She attended Mater Dei High School and the Academy of Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, IN graduating in 1955. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was an avid Mater Dei football fan. She also enjoyed God’s beautiful creation especially butterflies. Mary’s gentle spirit and radiant glow was evident to everyone she ever met. She woke up every morning like a babbling brook and an opening flower. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Thomas B. May; daughters Michelle Krack (Tim), Martha Appler (Chris) and son Chris May all of Evansville, and son Michael May (Beth) of Bowling Green, KY. Also surviving Mary are grandchildren Matt Krack of Indianapolis, Amy Krack of metro San Antonio, TX, Carrie (Brock) Harris of Hope, IN, Andy Krack (Paige) of Denver, CO, Christopher May (Bethany) of Evansville, Michael May of Lynnville, IN, Peter May of Evansville, and Kevin May of Golden, CO. Other survivors include great grandchildren Kaylin May of Evansville and Kassidy Duran of metro San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted at 4 p.m. Friends may also visit from 9:30 a.m. on Monday until service time of 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church. The family extends their sincere thanks to Deaconess Gateway staff for their loving care they gave Mary.
