Nancy M. Guetling

Nancy M. Guetling, 85, of Evansville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Bethel Manor. Nancy was born January 27, 1937 in Evansville to the late John and Dora (Gipson) Herr and married Marvin “Bud” Guetling in May of 1958. Nancy worked many jobs through the years including as a secretary at Corpus Christi School, at Mrs. D’s Cake Shop, Purofirst of Evansville and in her own words, as “housewife, chief cook, and dishwasher.” She was a devoted member of Resurrection Catholic Church; a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her flower and herb gardens, and made beautiful decorated cakes. Nancy also enjoyed camping and attending antique machinery shows with her husband and their friends. Surviving Nancy are four daughters, Jane (Kent) Brewer, Mary Ann Carr, Joan (Chip) McKinnies and Debbie (Brett) Reich; a son, Tom (Angela) Guetling; sisters, Helen (George) Schoenbaechler, Susan Grabert, Martha (Joe) Herr, Linda (Steve) Scheller and Mary (Steve) Steckler; brother, John T. (Nancy) Herr; grandchildren, Jenny (JT) Taylor, Charlie (Jenny) Guetling, Megan (Rick) Melton, Justin (Maria) Guetling, Natalie Carr, Tiffany Guetling, Abby Guetling, great grandchildren, Jay, Jenna, Noah, Cole, Mason, Jamie, Jasen, Emyle, Donovan, Hunter, Ryan, Ben and Trevor. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marvin “Bud” Guetling in 2019; by a son, David Guetling in 2022 and by a sister, Dorothy Schoenbaechler. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Jerry Pratt officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Thursday at Resurrection Church, 5301 New Harmony Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
