Norman "Red" Mosby

Norman W. “Red” Mosby, 76, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006 at his home. “Red” had served as Perry Township Trustee since 1965. He owned and operated Mosby Service Station on Broadway Avenue for over 35 years and had also worked at Swift Packing Company where he served as president of the local union. He was a member of the Vanderburgh County Democratic Club, Riverbend Association, Democratic Central Committee, AmVets Post 84, Howell Booster Club, Twin Towers Booster Club, Retired Indiana Public Employees Association, AARP, Traveler’s Protective Association, Germania Maennerchor, West Side Nut Club, Mater Dei Booster Club, Reitz Men’s Varsity Club, Indiana Township Association, Inc. and 6th Ward Leader of the Central Committee. He had been a member of the Democratic National Committee since 2005 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He received the Annual Lifetime Achievement Award from the Democratic Central Committee. He boxed in the Golden Gloves in the 1940’s and won the championship bout in Chicago. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He is survived by three sons, Dennis R. Mosby, David W. Mosby and his wife, Debi, and Keith A. Mosby and his wife, Kathy, two sisters, Mary Jane Tieken and Bernadette Wade and her husband, Don, and three brothers and their wives, William and Rosie Mosby, Donald and Martha Mosby and James and Barbara Mosby. Six grandchildren, Donnie Mosby, Jamie Watts and her husband, B. J., Dana Mosby, Ashley Mosby, Keith Mosby, Jr. and Rachael Mosby and 3 great grandchildren, Katelyn Mosby and Tristen and Ty Watts also survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann (Winterman) Mosby in 1998, his parents, Amelia (Antey) and Earl Mosby, brothers, Tommy, Pete and Joseph Mosby and a sister, Kathleen Weimer. Funeral services will be at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Pierre Funeral Home continuing at 9:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from Noon until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
