Rosemary Greenfield

Rosemary Greenfield, 88, a lifelong resident of Evansville and beloved wife of the late William Leary (Larry) Greenfield, passed away on May 6, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born Rosemary Weil and was one of eight children to William and Emma Weil. After graduating from Memorial High School, she was employed by Mead Johnson and Company until her marriage to Larry, the love of her life, on January 17, 1941. They had six children all of whom survive and were at her bedside when she passed away. Larry and Rosemary owned and operated A&B Auto Parts on Evansville’s Westside until Larry’s death on August 11, 1966. Thereafter the family business was operated by Michael Greenfield, their oldest son. Rosemary enjoyed attending classes at the University of Evansville. She was a supporter of numerous charities with a strong belief in the Catholic faith. Rosemary was a member of the former Assumption Cathedral, St. Boniface Catholic Church and most recently St. Philip Catholic Church. Her lifelong devotion to her children and grandchildren exemplified her commitment to family. Survivors include children, Michael Greenfield and wife, Sallie, Dennis Greenfield and wife, Krista, Emma Leraris and husband, Danny, Michele Greenfield, all of Evansville, Mary Millsaps and husband, Ralph of Newburgh and Donna Hess and husband, John, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Sean Greenfield, Anne Marie Greenfield, Emily Greenfield, Jessica Greenfield, Hannah Greenfield, Jennifer Hess Nesbit, Christine Leraris, Eric Millsaps, Evan Millsaps, Erin Millsaps and Rosemary’s sister, Dottie Faulkner of Tell City, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Revs. Jack Durchholz and Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street where a Scripture service will be held at 4:00 P.M. officiated by Father Ted Tempel.
