Wilbur A Fehrenbacher

Wilbur A. Fehrenbacher, age 91, of Evansville, passed away Friday, April 03, 2015 at the Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center. Wilbur enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others. He was a hard worker; he had worked for the Evansville Shipyard, Chrysler, Deig Brothers and retired from Fehrenbacher Painting in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, the Knights of St. John in St. Wendel, Darmstadt Retirees Club, Painters Local #156 and was a charter member of the Armstrong Recreation Center. During Wilbur’s earlier years he enjoyed frying fish and chicken at the family river camp on the Black River. Wilbur leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 72 years, Marian (Bauer) Fehrenbacher; a daughter, Barbara Mooney of Newburgh; four sons, David (Betty) Fehrenbacher, Richard (Judy) Fehrenbacher, Mark (Deborah) Fehrenbacher and Terry (Julie) Fehrenbacher, all of Evansville; three sisters, Edna Gish of Henderson, Marian Ellsperman of Evansville and Rosalie Hartman of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Anna May Fehrenbacher; grandchildren, Beth (Tim) Haefner, Greg (Julie) Mooney, Tony (Ginny) Mooney, David (Emily) Fehrenbacher, Elissa (Joshua) Paulson, Kenny Fehrenbacher, Tresa (Eric) Goebel, Andrea Fehrenbacher, Melissa (Erik) Chandler, Traci (Chris) Davis, Brandon (Kerri) Fehrenbacher and Paul (Beth) Fehrenbacher; 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josephine (Seib) Fehrenbacher; by two sisters, Catherine Miller and Iona Deig; four brothers, Verner, Gilbert, James and Raymond Fehrenbacher and by his son-in-law, John Mooney. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 5:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Deaconess Hospital Unit 4800, all of the doctors, nurses and all of the staff who cared for Wilbur.
